The Walt Disney Company, together with Miral, the developer of many iconic attractions in Yas Island, officially announced the launch of the Disney Theme Park in Abu Dhabi. The island serves as a strategically important location, connecting visitors from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
Bob Iger, the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, commented on the announcement: "For Disney, this is a unique opportunity to bring our renowned history to a new region." Disney will be responsible for the creative design of the park, the development of attractions, and the management of operations, while Miral will lead the construction and development of the resort.
This will be the first Disney theme park in the Middle East and the seventh worldwide, joining locations in California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. The new Disney resort will be located on the shores of Yas Island—a globally recognized hub for entertainment and family tourism.
Josh D'Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, added: "The concept redefines theme park design—with an immersive atmosphere, innovative attractions, and modern experiences unlike anything we've ever created before." Details, including park design, thematic zones, and a proposed opening date, will be announced in the coming months.
Miral described this collaboration as an important step in positioning Abu Dhabi as a global cultural and family tourism destination.
